2020 certainly came with many challenges to mankind. For me, it was the most stressful year I have ever seen in my life. The nostalgic news, constant lockdown and the financial troubles were driving me crazy. I hate wasting time; I am someone who likes to attain his goals in no time.
But this year, time was passing at a breakneck speed & I had no other option but to watch it. Watching this frequently started creating much anxiety in me. Even if you managed to stay calm and carry on, chances are you will start feeling awful again. Because of the sad news, I started having a fearful feeling that the world is going to end.
I wasn’t doing anything great that’s why all of my emotions were creating a surreal existential crisis in me. But by God’s grace, one promising thing happened with me. My elder brother is a book enthusiast, and when I spoke out the truth to him. He advised me to read books. As I had nothing to do, I agreed, and I started my book reading journey.
My first book was “The Man’s Search For Meaning.” After knowing the horrible experiences of author, my entire perspective about life and books changed. I started questioning myself that why I was feeling tense, there’s nothing bad happened to me. Author continuos on by saying that, “bad things happen, but we have to move on.” I started feeling decent again, that’s why I decided to go with the flow. I tear through many books to calm the chattering mind and de-stress yourself.
Out of them, ten books have helped me to lessen my stress, along with shifting my entire perspective about challenges. Do read all of them to declutter your mind from the negative emotions.
1. The Things You Can See Only When You Slow Down: How To Be Calm And Mindful In A Fast-Paced World.
This is one of the promising books I have ever read in my life. The author, Haemin Sunim, a Buddhist meditation instructor born in Korea and brought up in America, advises everything from dealing with setbacks to rest and relationships.
It includes thirty pages of silencing illustrations to help us slow-down in life. It is more of a practical manual to calm your intellect.
2. Man’s Search For Meaning.
As I told you before this was the initial book of my reading journey. I don’t think that if I started out with other books, I could have been that much eager to read again. But this one changed my mind. The author Viktor Frankl was captured and thrown in the concentration camps of Nazi’s. Despite worrying like a maniac, he shares his valuable lesson on life that he learned while being in the camp.
Usually, most of us have a concern in our mind, that what is the true significance of the life. The author tried his best to lightens up the answer to this in the book. He remarks that, “we can not avoid suffering, but we can choose how to cope with it, find meaning in it, and move ahead with a renewed purpose.”
Along with me, this book has inspired millions of people around the globe. The story would help you to understand the actual significance of life. I have understood that one should not stress and fear when things aren’t in his control, only by reading this book.
3. Strength In Stillness: The Power Of Transcendental Meditation.
In this book, the author Bob Roth tells logical ways to deal with stress and anxiety. The author is a Transcendental Meditation teacher; he has spent the past forty-five years of his life, helping people to access their innate creativity.
This book describes that Transcendental meditation is a simple practice that dramatically changes how we respond to stress and challenges. The author tries to unfold the wisdom of meditation in this book. Famous personalities like Oprah Winfrey, Katy Perry, Tom Hanks, Hugh Jackman also mention its benefits.
4. How To Stop Worrying And Start Living.
In this great book, famous author Dale Carnegie shared his personal experiences about how unsatisfied he was with his life. With time he changed his viewpoint of living life and looking at things.
The writer tells, “one should never concern about his past, nor should he stress about the future.”
The book suggests many ways to conquer worry and lead an amazing life. We all know that Dale Carnegie was a world-famous personality; he shared his ideas to find the true meaning and objective of life.
5. Little Book Of Calm: Tame Your Anxieties, Face Your Fears And Live Free.
In his book, Dr Aaron Balick has shared the magical recipe for anxiety. He is a trained psychotherapist who regularly shares guidance on effective ways to deal with pressure and uncertainty.
This book reveals the truth about how to feel more at ease and sustain a calm sense in your life. I remember that reading it once filled me with so much positivity that I have never experienced before.
6. Good Vibes, Good Life: How Self- Love Is The Key To Unlocking Your Greatness.
This great book is full of inspiring quotes and wisdom of positivity. The author Vex King shared his perspective on how to cherish yourself truly and how you can alter negative emotions into positive ones.
With this book, Vex will reveal to you how you began to change the world when you shift the way you believe, feel, communicate, and act.
Well, this book is the favourite of almost all the people I admire in my life. That’s why I thought of giving it a try. It really stood upon my expectations or even exceeded them.
Ikigai is a Japanese word, which suggests the reason to live or the reason to leap out of your bed in the morning. This book tells that the citizens of the Japanese Island Okinawa- the world’s longest-living people- discover that ikigai is the key to a longer and additional fulfilling life. This book includes much intuition about life.
8. The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari
This is a fable about life’s journey of a person who leaves everything behind (a good satisfying job, house, family, and all the comforts) to become a monk.
Author Robin Sharma explains everything with the help of a tale. When I started reading it, I didn’t feel like leaving it. Robin Sharma has done well to stick its reader with the book, but there’s great wisdom inside it. I believe that everyone should give it a try.
9. The Alchemist
It is a great novel written by the author Paulo Coelho, which helps to change its readers’ lives. It includes the story of a boy named Santiago who wanders from his homeland to the Egyptian desert, searching for a treasure buried near the pyramids.
Santiago used to have the same dream of finding buried treasure near the pyramid. Once he again has the same dream when he was sleeping under a tree, from then on he began his journey from his homeland to Egypt’s pyramids. This tale shares a profound knowledge about why one should listen to his heart and many more.
10. Life Amazing Secrets: How To Find Balance And Purpose In Your Life.
This great book is written by Gaur Gopal Das, who unwraps the reality about revealing purpose in your life and the key to long-lasting prosperity. The author takes us on a memorable journey with his precious insights into the areas of life.
We know that we should stabilize everything in our life. The author tried to tell many secrets to have a decent balanced life.
